Professional

Currently, I am a Professional Tutor at the Math & Writing Center in the library. I was employed there years ago as well, and am literally the "poster child
' for the center (I'm the gal on the posters). If you stop in on Thursdays, you will see my smiling face :) Before this, I worked a lot in advertising as a proofreader and copy editor (don't judge me on my typos now though). I have also worked for the electric company (worst.job.ever). And, I was a GA for Marshall University in their Writing Across the Curriculum office and also their Writing Center. I guess I have always danced around the English teaching profession, but am even more passionate about it now.

Family & Friends

I have a very supportive group of people in my life. I have had the same two best friends since I was in middle school. I have also recently reconnected with some old friends that I could not live without. I have also recently met someone special who has brought a lot of joy to the lives of my daughter and myself. Of course, in spite of all of the good, there is some bad. Last month, my mother found out she has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She is my rock and my co-parent and the only option for this disease is for her to kill it and beat it and we can continue on with our lives as they once were. That's really all I can share about this.

Hobbies

I do not have very much spare time. I am a full-time Graduate Student,, single-mother, Professional tutor, and am in my first year of course observation for the MAT program. However, when I did have spare time, I used to like to read for recreation and leisure. I also enjoy WV authors, such as Jeannette Walls. I am also an avid Jesco White fan and was recently awarded "Best of Issue" in Whetstone for a poem/limerick I wrote about him. I used to live in HHI, SC and loved my career in advertising also. But, I would have to say that my biggest interest and hobby is playing with my 20-month-old daughter, Raylie. She is my world and my sunshine. . . even if she is a tiny human tornado.
